Dr. Faisal Tariq, Senior Lecturer (Systems Power & Energy), James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow

Talk Title: Rethinking Engineering Education in the Generative AI Era

Biography: Dr. Faisal Tariq is an Associate Professor at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He previously chaired the IEEE VTS UK & Ireland Section and is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. He has held faculty roles at QMUL and conducted research at leading institutions including Chalmers University, Aalborg University, and Japan’s National Institute of Informatics.

An internationally recognized expert in 6G and AI applications, Dr. Tariq has edited four books and published around 50 research papers. He is also a frequent keynote speaker at major global conferences.

Abstract: Generative AI is reshaping engineering education, enabling personalized learning, AI-augmented problem solving, and access to advanced simulations. This talk explores its impact, challenges in assessment and academic integrity, and the skills future engineers need to work with AI. It also outlines strategies for responsibly integrating GenAI in curricula, empowering faculty, and strengthening academia–industry links, especially in developing nations.

Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Sarma Professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Guwahati University, Guwahati, Assam, India.

Talk Title: Leveraging Temporal LLMs for Next-Gen Cognitive Spectrum Sensing and Device Fingerprinting.

Biography: Dr. Kandarpa Kumar Sarma is a Professor at Gauhati University specializing in mobile communication, AI, HCI, cognitive radio, and antenna design. He holds an MTech and PhD from IIT Guwahati and completed postdoctoral research at TU Sofia. His work spans AI-driven wireless networks, smart infrastructure, and high-rate antenna systems. He has authored 14 books, served on 200+ conference committees, and is a Senior IEEE member, IETE Fellow, and Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Intelligent Systems Design and Computing.

Abstract: It will cover real-world signals, application of gated components to model real-world signals and applications in wireless communication. It will cover how spectrum sensing and fingerprinting stand to derive benefit from the development in Generative AI and the spin-offs for 6G Wireless Communication.

‪Dr. M. Moshiul Hoque‬
, Professor, Department of CSE, CUET

Talk Title: Deep learning for innovation and Tech Solutions for serving Humanity

Biography: Dr. M. Moshiul Hoque is a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at CUET, where he also serves as Director of IICT and the IT Business Incubator. He previously served as CSE Department Head and Dean of ECE at CUET. He holds a Ph.D. from Saitama University, an M.Sc. from BUET, and a B.Sc. from CUET, and is the founding director of the CUET NLP Lab.

A former Chair of the IEEE Bangladesh Section (2021–2025), Dr. Hoque has published over 270 international journal and conference papers. He has held key roles in major IEEE conferences, including Organizing Chair and TPC Chair. His research focuses on Natural Language Processing, Multimodal Content Classification, and Human-Robot Interaction. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of several global professional societies.

Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET

Biography: Dr. Celia Shahnaz, SMIEEE and Fellow of IEB, is a Professor of EEE at BUET with a Ph.D. from Concordia University, Canada. She is a recipient of the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship, the Bangladesh Academy of Science Gold Medal, and was elected a Fellow of TWAS in 2023. She is also an IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu Professional Member.

Dr. Shahnaz has held numerous global IEEE leadership roles, including Chair of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Committee (2023–2024) and former Chair of IEEE Bangladesh Section. She serves on multiple IEEE boards and award committees and has over 24 years of impactful contributions in signal processing, education, women empowerment, humanitarian technology, and professional leadership.

Dr. Mohammed Imamul Hassan Bhuiyan, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET, Chair, IEEE Bangladesh Section

Biography: Dr. Mohammed Imamul Hassan Bhuiyan is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc.  degree from BUET in 1998 and 2001, respectively, and later Ph.D. from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada in 2007. He has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. His major research interests are biomedical signal and image processing, machine learning, statistical modeling of signal, image and video, photonic crystal fiber, applications of signal processing in genomics, telecommunications and power systems etc. He has got several awards including Best Paper Award from Japan Signal Processing Society and IEEE Lance Stafford Larson Student Scholarship for Best Student Paper from IEEE Computer Society. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of IEB.

Dr. Monjur Morshed, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, AUST

Biography: Dr. Monjur Morshed is an Associate Professor in the Department of EEE at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). He is a member of IEEE and IEB. His research focuses on Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, and advanced Machine Learning and Deep Learning techniques, particularly for biomedical signal classification and segmentation. Dr. Morshed has published research works in reputed national and international journals and conference proceedings. He actively contributes to developing data-driven methodologies for biomedical signal analysis and is committed to guiding students in emerging research areas.
